The Firecracker Press

The Firecracker Press is a graphic design studio and letterpress printshop that’s unique in many ways. We combine antique printing technology with contemporary thinking to design and produce advertising and promotion campaigns, event posters, and limited edition products for clients large and small. We use computer design software to conceive ideas, just like any other design firm might, but we still use our hands to make everything we conceive. We transfer our designs onto printable woodblocks that we carve by hand, we mix all of the ink used in the printing process by hand, and we feed each sheet of paper, one by one, into presses that are over 100 years old. Every job is custom and made with care by hand.

Our client list is diverse. Some days we’re working for corporate clients in Chicago, other days we’re designing wedding invitations for a bride and groom that live in our neighborhood. We love finding out what makes each of our clients tick and we treat each one with the individual attention that’s needed to make a great custom job. No doubt, we will do the same for you.
